a Matt Sharpe web project

Tony and I set out to figure out somewhere to camp from 9/3 to 9/6 (essentially labor day weekend) because he has off of work. It started with the idea of going to Acadia in Maine. When we discovered they were either booked solid or first come first serve walk up reservations we started looking elsewhere. Ideas mentioned included but were not limited to White Mountains National Forest (NH), Baxter State Park (ME), and Shenandoah National Forest (WV). After about an hour of trying to decide on a location we started looking up costs of plane tickets to fly somewhere GOOD like Big Bend National Park (TX) or Grand Canyon National Park (AZ). With limited income we didn’t want to pay more than $400 for the roundtrip ticket and as you can imagine our options were limited. This trip is still under construction but I have a good feeling that no matter where we end up it will be a good time. My money is kind of lying with Baxter State Park in Maine because it seems to have the most available sites and is within a drivable distance. It’s also home to Mount Katahdin which is the northern most point on the Appalachian trail.

At the end of May I took a trip up to Maine for 4 days in the camper. We stayed at Acadia national park just outside of bar harbor. We managed to do about 20 miles of hiking trails including Cadillac Mountain, The Beehive, & a few others that I can’t recall the name of right now. I have about 20 more phone pics and now that the iPhone app for wordpress works I will upload them in a few seperate posts when I am bored.
